What they say about us

Don't hesitate, just go and be amazed!

“Our family planned to stay here two nights but due to the airlines changing our flights we had to cut it down to only one night. Well, what a bummer because this was one of the best experiences we had on our recent two week trip through Tuscany, Lazio (Rome), and Umbria. We are already scrambling to get back here for a more extensive stay of 4-5 nights this summer. What makes this place so special and memorable? The staff! Personal and professional service without being stuffy or uptight. The castello is so unique and so well done. In November it is rather chilly and it felt very cozy. The food was outstanding! Maria the chef was amazing and Francesco our waiter was equally exceptional. The room (we booked a family room) was extremely spacious and comfortable. Again, well done, clean, and well-appointed. And of course BEAUTIFUL! I actually don’t think the photos truly capture all of the charm. The castello features art exhibits, a billiard room, shops, spa and pool (seasonal). You must go in knowing that the location is rather secluded, but that is part of its appeal and gives you the ability to wake up with a gorgeous view of an unspoiled Umbrian mountain landscape. Also, you are central to lots of day trips to Umbrian gems such as Spoleto, Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, and Gubbio. If you are looking for a unique luxury stay where you feel truly welcomed, this is a must book property!”

Stunning place, lovely experience

“I stayed with some friends for five days in April. The restoration of the castello is really quite stunning - sympathetically done, full of character and the place has a magical feel to it. The staff and the food are wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and are a continuation of the character found in the castello. very highly recommended for anyone looking to stay away from the boring tourist traps of Umbria and experience somewhere with character and charm”

Beautiful, relaxing and unique place

“We stayed one night at the Castello di Postignano Relais in mid-April. The weather was grey and drizzly but the place more than made up for it - the rooms were spacious and beautiful, the location was serene and relaxing, and the restaurant served delicious meals. Great for a quiet, luxurious weekend getaway from Rome or station”

Absolutely perfect stay

“It's hard to say enough good things about castello di Postignano and the wonderful staff. Both my wife and I are terrible with jet lag so we were looking for a place that was relaxing to spend our first four nights in Italy that had a good restaurant walking distance and comfortable rooms. This place far exceeded our expectations. We were some of the only visitors when we came mid-week so we were able to have the beautiful medieval town to ourselves. From the spacious room to the absolutely stunning pool (have you seen the pictures? it's better in person!) the grounds were amazing. Imagine admiring a beautiful old Italian hilltown without the hordes of tourists and gift shops you get at some of the popular ones nearby but rather doing it in the comfort of a beautiful, large, room (with wifi, i might add!) overlooking the mountains and in the presence of staff who were always around and extremely helpful and engaging. From the moment we checked in the staff took care of everything.
We would wake up in the morning and stroll into the breakfast area where there was a wide array of free breakfast options to choose from along with an "egg of the day" and coffee any way you like it. Staff is there to make recommendations on things to do and places to go during the day. During the day we would venture out and come back to the wine bar at night to sit and enjoy cured meats, cheese and a bottle of wine. A bit later we would walk into the restaurant and enjoy some of the best food we had in Italy. No reservations, all at our own pace. It is quiet and serene at night, a welcome respite from our city life. The staff, the location, the food, the restored village ... all phenomenal and at an amazing price. Do yourself a favour and stay here or at least come and dine here and have a look around, it's truly breathtaking.”

Beautiful, unique stay in architect designed hilltop village

“This is a unique place to stay. With all the comforts of a hotel but in a renovated medieval hill town village of tiny streets with arches and pelagoniums at every turn. The beautifully restored church with frescoes now holds concerts.
You can tell this is a place recreated by architects as the attention to detail shows. Each room is in a little tower house. All are all suites with living space and bedrooms. Bathrooms come with fluffy white towels, robes and slippers. Views from the terrace and many of the rooms are over the lush green hills. The restaurant is wonderful, making the best of local ingredients and has a talented lady chef. Breakfast on the terrace looking over the hills is excellent. The swimming pool is set in a lush rose garden and massages are available in the wellness centre.
The location is perfectly placed for visiting historic towns of Spoletto and Norcia and there is fabulous walking in the valleys hills. Many small villages on one side of the region are recovering well from the 2016 earthquake and its extraordinary to see their achievements. The other side is untouched. If you want a beautiful, quiet and friendly place to stay in Umbria, this is it.”

Unique stay

“This hotel was previously abandoned small hamlet that has been restored nice fully to become hotel with charming room, nice Umbrian hills view and very friendly staffs. This isn't just a hotel but also have some facilities like spa, restaurant, and their own church. Walking around the hotel complex is so enjoyable as we are being transformed into old days living and beautiful Umbrian scenery.

Our room is family room with two bedroom, living room, and dining table. It was decorated with traditional Italian house.

Breakfast is served in Casa Rosa Restaurant with good variety of breakfast items like salad, pastry, and good coffee. Staff are all happy to serve the guests with friendly attitude.

The hotel manager is also a nice guy who always make sure the guest happy with their stay at his hotel. The only minor issue is the higher rate compared to other hotels in the area. However, with unique stay at the restored hamlet, it is still worth a try.”

3 night stay at the end of August

“We have just stayed at this amazing hilltop Castello in Umbria. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. The Castello is absolutely beautiful. It far exceeded our expectations. Our apartment was full of character and very comfortable. The breakfasts were simply outstanding. The pool and gardens were lovely and we had the pool mostly to ourselves during a midweek stay. The staff were mostly extremely helpful and charming. The atmosphere of the place is very special, we felt it was one of the most extraordinary places we have ever stayed and hope to return one day soon. I would recommend it without hesitation.”

Molto piacevole

Bellissimo borgo visitato per caso, molto molto piacevole!

Highly recommended

“Stayed for two nights at this wonderful restored accommodation...had the executive suite which was extremely comfortable and spacious for our family of three....very hospitable and friendly staff, great breakfasts, we had dinner on both nights at the hotel restaurant, wonderful food put together by the chef Maria...special thanks to Michael, who is a combination of head waiter and sommelier, extremely knowledgeable and helpful on everything from different local courses on the menu to regional wines and olive oil....

The Castello is well located as a springboard for day trips in the area, and a car is a must...we definitely recommend it!”

Posto suggestivo e molto particolare, un antico borgo completamente ristrutturato. Sembra un'opera d'arte. I gestori sono gentilissimi e professionali.

Magical hotel

This is the best hotel in Italy I have stayed in. And the restaurant is fabulous. The apartment we stayed in was huge and cool and quiet. Perfect after a day out in the countryside. Michele, Maria and everyone else couldn't have done anything else to make the stay more enjoyable.

Unique place - expertly restored and beautifully managed

Thanks to the lovely people running this unique place - they are helpful, friendly and v professional. The historic castello is beautifully restored and set in a tranquil green valley in the heart of Umbria. We had a lovely apartment which was tasteful, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. The bar was stocked with a great selection of interesting wines at good prices and we enjoyed taking Francesco's advice! Dinner on both nights was brilliant - local ingredients freshly cooked and nicely presented. We loved it here and will return to what is an imaginative and authentic restoration of an amazing community.

Fabulous and charming experience

“Near Spoleto, easily reachable from Rome and Fiumicino airports. Excellent service, warm and attentive hospitality;
Traditional and refined cuisine;
Surrounded by woods and unspoiled nature;
An immersion in the tradition and culture of Italian historical villages with the comfort of 3rd millennium technology;
A masterpiece of regeneration of an old village respectful of tradition, beauty and earthquake-proof structures designed by the excellence of Italian architecture.
An opportunity to find yourself in the silence and the light of nature surrounding a charming and beautiful place.
A traditional village excellently renovated not only in its stones but also in its spirit.
Postignano has a genius loci to live and breathe in its uniqueness!”

It is WOW !

Now I don't gonna give special comments on the rooms and the Hotel, look your self on they website for pictures, but the reality is still more beautiful as the pictures.
For me more remarkable was the top friendly service and super delicious Italian cuisine in they restaurant.
The staff I want to give 5 stars.
Even the most beautiful Hotel without a such professional staff is worthless.
Mille grazie a tutti.
Kindest regards
